IEN-8424L is a lite-managed 4-port 10/100/1000 RJ45 downlink and 2-port FX/GbE multi-rate SFP uplink industrial switch designed for real-time monitoring and communication between controllers and devices in automation settings. This switch is used with industrial devices like PLCs, HMIs, and legacy devices. It offers auto-negotiation on all its ports and Modbus TCP to aggregate devices easily in industrial ethernet applications.
With a variety of management tools for configuration, it takes only three hours for technicians to learn how to use this equipment. The Wizard reduces installation to three steps and three minutes. The monitoring and management platform, Topology Map and Dashboard, give useful information in real-time to help users diagnose the network and troubleshoot without on-site technicians at all times. Rate limitation and QoS (Quality of Service) allow network optimization.
This switch is built with industrial-grade components, enclosed in metal case to protect the device from tools and hazards. Designed to withstand vibration, shock, free fall, and temperatures ranging from -10°C~60°C (14°F~140°F) it suits hardened application environments without airconditioning. To ensure reliability the redundant power supply and alarm relay contact on the terminal block ensures non-stop operations and issues alerts if power fails.
LAMUNGAN - Monitoring and Management Platform
Lamungan is Volktek’s embedded monitoring and management platform, a user-friendly interface consisted of a Wizard, a Topology Map, and a Dashboard for users to achieve more in less time to save resources and increase efficiency. It aggregates four tools concerning device deployment and installation, network performance, device monitoring, and network configuration.
The Wizard - Three-step installation in three minutes
When a new switch is connected the Wizard helps technicians to set up network access, security, and login information. This allows to quickly finish the installation of all devices to later continue with remote configuration once the network connection is settled. For users that are not familiarized with these types of devices, the Wizard can solve a lot of trouble.
Topology Map - a Smart and Interactive Network at Glance
For easy problem finding and troubleshooting, a bird-eye view of the network gives OT and IT users a comprehensive understanding. The Ethernet switch uses smart technology to discover third-party devices, their interface, and the link path status in a tri-color code (green, amber, and red). Furthermore, users can set up the map with customized icons and background images.
Dashboard - Network Performance Visualization
The dashboard lets users visualize switch CPU performance and data transmission rates in a simple interface to quickly detect device and network issues and give fast assistance.
Third-Party Device Compatibility and Speed Adaptability
The multi-rate ports of this device are enabled to transmit data at different Ethernet speeds of 10/100/1000 Mbps on copper and 100/1000 Mbps on fiber and adapt to the Ethernet speed of third-party devices based on their requirements. When legacy devices are connected to the switch, it auto-negotiates with the device, reducing the need for additional adaptors to adjust to a tight budget.
Optimized Network Performance
The transmission of data to the control center or to other devices in real-time is crucial and assured with the help of the QoS (Quality of Service) and Flow Control features, the switch prioritizes data transmission and improves performance.
Power Failure Protection: Redundant Power Input & Relay Output Alarm
To guarantee power runs continuously the switch is designed to be simultaneously connected to two power supplies and an alarm. If the primary power supply stops working the switch will start using the alternative power supply automatically and trigger a notification alarm to notify technicians in the event of power failure.
Resistant to Extreme Environments
The device is built with Industrial grade components, tested in-house, and certified for reliable operation in harsh environmental conditions by international market safety organizations like CE, FCC, and ROHS. Strong tolerance to harsh temperatures (-10℃ to 60℃ / 14°F~140°F) and resistance to interference makes this device infallible in hardened environments around multiple types of machinery.
