Factory Security

Application Overview

Factory sytems commonly use 24VDC in harsh environments with PoE+ (up to 30W) for powered devices such as surveillance, WLAN, VoIP phones. Network systems require ruggedized equipment capable of 24/7 monitoring.

Key Considerations

  • PoE+ switches with DC/DC boosting technology to provide the required voltage if the input voltage is below the required range.
  • Total PoE+ power budget of 240W or 124W when the input voltage is 48VDC or 24VDC respectively.
  • PoE+ ports comply with IEEE 802.3at standards, supplying 30W to support powered devices such as WLAN AP, VoIP phones and IP surveillance cameras with up to 100m via CAT 5e cables.
  • Industrial grade switches with protection against ESD, EMI/EMC, under and over-voltage conditions.

Key Volktek Benefits

  Feature Benefit
Reliability Redundant Power Remains On During Power Failure Built-in surge protection, dual power sources, and battery backup ensure stable device operations for 24/7 network reliability.
Availability Xpress-Ring Fast Network Recovery Link aggregation and dual-homing rapidly react to physical link failure and recover immediately (milliseconds) or provide an alternate pathy link to support continuous transmission.
24V Power Input Wide Power Input Range for Factory Applications The wide input power range from 24V to 57V enables the device to operate in factory ecosystems and other commercial/residential security applications without extra power outlet installation needed.
Performance Quality of Service (QoS) Define the Critical Networks Networks typically operate on a best-effort delivery basis, which means that all traffic transmitting from ports has equal priority and chance of being delivered in a timely manner.  When congestion occurs, the same traffic has an equal chance of being dropped.  When configuring the QoS feature, specific networks can be prioritized, optimizing the network performance and bandwidth utilization.
Security 802.1x RADIUS / TACACS+ Secure the Network by Authenticating the Users Allows the network administrator to specify a whitelist of allowed MAC addresses, allowing only those devices to connect to the network.  It also limits the number of devices connected to a single downlink port known as Dynamic Assignment.
e-mail Alarm Triggered Events Alert Via Email Sends email alerts via SMTP to notify the administrator if real-time problems occur such as firmware or configuration changes, device status, link connectivity status, etc.  These triggered events help administrators to quickly identify, isolate and resolve network issues.
Management Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) + TRAP Monitor Your Network From a Single Location SNMP allows large networks with thousands of nodes to be monitored from a management host.  The data is used for collecting and configuring information for devices such as servers, printers, hubs, switches, and routers.  Volktek's managed switches provide management of SNMP traps or alert messages sent from a remote SNMP-enabled device to a central SNMP server.
Management PoE ON / OFF + PD Alive Check Intelligent PoE+ for Powered Devices PoE switches can enable or disable the power supply to the powered devices.  The powered ports can send keep-alive checking packets to the devices to increase system reliability.
